Doing Your Co-Worker's Work Can Be Counter Productive

If your co-worker "drops the ball" so to speak, and you find yourself picking up their work load, this may prevent you from completing your own duties satisfactorily. Beware, you may view it as an opportunity to "shine", but it could cost you...with a below average work performance evaluation . Sometimes it's best just to focus on your own work, and find other ways to prove to your boss that you're worthy of a raise. Has this happened to you?

I received a below average rating and I didn't deserve it so I quit. I think they purposely gave me a below average evaluation to justify not giving me a raise.

We've all had to "pick up the slack" for a fellow co-worker who's ill, lost a loved one, or just going thru a hard time. If it's temporary and "it's the right thing to do" I say pitch in. But sometimes some people tend to take advantage. It's an individual decision thing, as long as it doesn't affect one's own work performance. Good question.
